I’ve been in England about 5 days now, and I’ve only seen rain once, so it’s been going pretty damn well! I flew out late Wednesday night, on Air Transat. We left pretty late, but I didn’t mind too much because I got upgraded! I already had option plus, largely because I wanted the extra baggage allowance.. However I was lucky enough to get moved up to club class, which is what Air Transat calls first class. If this was first class on a budget airline, I can’t imagine what it would be like on a high end one! We got a full dinner, unlimited alcohol, a full breakfast, and a hot hand towel in between each meal. We also each had our own individual tv, which isn’t the case in the rest of the plane. And you best believe I stole every single thing they put in your ‘comfort kit’.. blankets, slippers, skincare, the works!
^ I introduced my mom to snapchat right before I left and she’s obsessed. And you can see why I needed the extra baggage allowance 🙈
The plane was supposed to arrive around 10am, but were about an hour and a half late. Thankfully I was in row one, so I was able to beat the crowd to customs and got through in about 10 minutes. My boyfriend and I quickly found each other in Arrivals and let’s just say we were very happy to see each other. It’s been a long few months! Thanks to the train strike in England, it took us about two hours to get to where we’re staying, but it was totally worth it when I got to see it for the first time…
We’re staying at Herstmonceux Castle, as it’s the centre of my boyfriends research project. I’ve spent the last few days here just adjusting to the time change and exploring the castle! It’s still very surreal to get to eat all your meals inside a 15th century castle. The grounds are insanely huge so I’ve only seen a fraction so far. I’ve been able to do a bit of photography in the gardens, but I’m so excited to explore further!
I’ve also been getting really seriously into Lightroom, and some of these have had some pretty legit editing done! I’d love any feedback you guys have on them.
In the next few days we’re taking a trip to the Harry Potter studio tour, which was my only non negotiable thing to do in England 🙈 we’re rewatching the movies right now to get ourselves ready, and I’m preparing myself for what I imagine will be a religious experience.
