Standard obligatory ‘sorry I haven’t blogged in ages.’ But based on the title of this post, you can safely assume I’ll be posting here a great deal more in 2017. I wanted to start the year off by talking a little bit about some of my goals for this year, and what I’ve been doing so far to accomplish them.
My main goal for 2017 is to be intentional. Nothing specific, but it applies to most aspects of my life. Mostly I want to be more intentional with my time, actively choosing how to use my time rather than just sitting around wasting it. I’m the worst for just sitting on the couch on my phone when I have spare time, and I want to focus instead on using that time to do productive things. One of the things that has really helped me focus on this is a habit tracker.
This is the one I use, it’s from here. I have one with personal goals, and one for my house to track when chores get done. It’s honestly so motivating to think about how you don’t want to break your streak of coloured boxes! It also helps me remember simple daily tasks like taking my vitamins and flossing.
My other main goal for this year is to change things up fitness-wise. I’ve always done a lot of yoga, but I’ve always wanted to be stronger and have bigger muscles. Luckily I happen to have a boyfriend who does a lot of lifting, so at the end of December I started to go to the gym with him. I honestly feel like I’m already noticing changes! And I used to think it was all propaganda too, but turns out when you go the gym a lot, you actually DO sleep better and have more energy! Who knew?
I did take a few progress pictures when I first started, just to track my gains (or lack thereof I suppose..) Now I’m lucky in that I’m pretty slim, so I don’t need to focus on losing any weight before I’ll be able to see muscle growth. However I’m the weakest human alive, so while there isn’t a lot of fat, there also isn’t much else hahaha.
Excuse the fact that Lenny is in every single photo – he just really like to be involved!
So there we have it! My very broad resolution for 2017, the best tool to ever happen to my productivity, and some vaguely embarrassing progress photos for the beginning of my fitness journey. I think that’s about enough for now!
Tell me about some of your New Years resolutions in the comments!
